Acknowledged as the best MBA course in Central and South America, it also enjoys a privileged international reputation. When the institution needed to renew its Payroll system, it incorporated the Legadmi Regional Solution on Microsoft Azure.
The integration of Oracle technologies on Linux was a transparent process which allowed the systems provider to achieve 60% savings in costs.
Personnel expect to continue migrating from Amazon to Azure, strengthening the consolidation of the cloud infrastructure.

The payroll system needed to be updated throughout all branches and offices; the institution was working with Legadmi which develops solutions for Oracle on Linux.

So much so that “we are moving our datacenter and other assets from the Department of Technology we currently keep on Amazon to Microsoft Azure,” says its director.
Azure’s interoperability capabilities mean that the platform can be used for a tool like Legadmi, whose user interface and database use Oracle, operating in a Linux environment.

In 2015, the Institute implemented the Legadmi’s regional Payroll solution developed using Oracle technology to operate in a Linux environment. “We needed a cloud platform that would allow our staff to operate in the same way in any country where they might be located, and at the same time allow us to have the necessary visibility and capacity for action from our offices in Costa Rica or Nicaragua,” explains Salinas.

To complete the migration from a local provider of virtualized hosting to Windows Azure, Legadmi worked with ITQS, a specialized Microsoft partner firm. “We found we were able to mount our own system on the platform very easily, even though it was developed using other technologies, achieving significant cost-savings in the order of 60%,” says Luis Ascanio from Legadmi.
“Legadmi operating on Microsoft Azure is a flexible solution that allows us to work with the different types of contracts we have with over 250 employees, between teachers and administrators, in each of the countries where we operate.
This is important because each one has different laws and tax filing requirements when it comes to billing our services, paying salaries or expenses,” details Salinas, adding that “we had to have an effective tool to manage the payroll of each territory and Legadmi already had experience in this area, which, coupled with the ease of having the system in the cloud, meant our needs could be fully met.”
INCAE works with recruitment personnel in decentralized offices, whose task is highly sensitive as the selection process is key to preserving the institution’s standards of excellence.
